Congratulations to our sixth BirdSpotter Folks’s Alternative winner, Rodney Wright of Gardner, Kansas! Rodney says:
I used to be photographing this feminine Northern Cardinal when all of the sudden a wind gust blew from behind her. It blew her crest ahead making for an ideal “crown!”
The Cardinal household is made up of a a number of species – tanagers, buntings, grosbeaks and Dickcissels – and we had a consultant from every of those teams submitted to this BirdSpotter class! You may see all of our Eyecatching photographs within the BirdSpotter gallery. You might be more than likely to draw cardinals and grosbeaks to your feeders, although Indigo and Painted Buntings have been recognized to return to feeders too! Appeal to most of those species with sunflower seeds, safflower, and peanut hearts; buntings like smaller seeds reminiscent of thistle and nyjer, and may additionally eat mealworms.
