Purrsday Poetry: A Scrap of Catteral for Freya

Lay down your head you Ninny, You outdated Pricey!
You’ve a house: there’s nothing now to concern.
Lightening, stinging hail, sleet, sweeping rain:
It’s only a storm! It’s not a hurricane.
Overlook these grim years while you have been a stray,
Again while you scurried on from night time to day,
When starvation made you reedier than a rail,
And frost nipped you to ice, whiskers to tail!
Now you’re so spherical and heat, cozy and dry,
Daring, sassy, nimble, and not shy.
Curled up you’re sleeker than a sable hat.
The truth is we should admit you’re moderately fats.
So hush! Return to sleep you little loon!
I’m positive the storm will finish this afternoon.
